Phoenix resident Nadia Beltran Bernal recently shared with Images Arizona two photos taken during a late-July camping trip to a site just north of Christopher Creek in Payson.
“We had gone camping by ourselves,” says Beltran Bernal, noting that her friend Horacio Soto offered her a warm, calming hug by the campfire amid a surprisingly chilly summer rainstorm. “We were trying to catch the thunder. Always outdoors, always hiking, always without service, always thinking, ‘What if?’”
