Phoenix temperatures are forecasted to exceed 110 degrees this weekend, triggering excessive heat warnings around the Valley. With the release of arguably one of this summer’s most massive blockbusters on the big screen and the debut of Marvel’s latest superhero series on the small screen, now is the perfect time to enjoy air-conditioned comfort and escapist entertainment.

Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill return to the roles they starred in nearly 30 years ago in “Jurassic World Dominion,” billed as the epic conclusion to the “Jurassic” franchise. They are joined by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in a new adventure that, spanning the globe, takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed, during a time when dinosaurs now live — and hunt — alongside humans.

Expect nostalgia, excitement and thought-provoking themes about the fragile balance that lies between humans and beasts in the film, which is playing exclusively in theaters.

Meanwhile, Marvel unveils its latest series — “Ms. Marvel,” in which a young woman with an affinity for superheroes suddenly gets super powers similar to those possessed by The Avengers. Once just a student, avid gamer and voracious fan-fiction scribe who struggles to fit in at home and at school, the young woman is thrust into a world about which she previously only fantasized.

Iman Vellani stars in the six-episode series, whose first installment dropped on Disney+ earlier this week.

Whether you want to brave the box office crowds for “Jurassic World Dominion” or stay home on your sofa for “Ms. Marvel,” this weekend will be best spent indoors — out of the scorching sun and the hard-to-bear heat.
