Making the Mummies Dance

The story of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of pride, extravagance, avarice, envy, greed and egotism. An early Met curator, Dietrich von Bothmer, was a refugee from Nazi Germany whose greatest Met acquisitions turned out to be looted art. Mary F.
