Each May, the sounds of rockin’ guitars, soulful saxophones, jazzy pianos and of course sweet vocals can be heard emanating from the amphitheater at Anthem Community Park. Those sounds return this month as one of Anthem’s most prestigious events kicks off four weeks of free concerts in the community.

Each Friday this month, a different act will take the stage as part of its annual Music in May celebration — much to the delight of residents and their guests who are eager to have an evening outdoor picnic with family, friends and neighbors while enjoying some memorable, family-friendly entertainment.

Performers will bring a variety of classics and modern favorites to life at the amphitheater at Anthem Community Park, beginning with The Very Secret Service who on May 6 will perform a selection of modern top 40 music. The band is a collective of Arizona’s top-performing musicians, formed in June 2019 by vocalist/guitarist Evan Berg and Grammy Award-winning drummer Greg Jacks.

On May 13, City Nights Band will take the stage, delivering the hits of the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Journey, Bruno Mars, Pink and the Band Perry. The talented and versatile singers and musicians will play music that will encourage concertgoers to get up from their blankets and lawn chairs and onto their feet to dance the night away.

Young Country will then bring the best of current and past country hits to Anthem when it takes its turn May 20. A country music staple in the southwest for years, the band can easily incorporate any genre into the mix to round out the night.

Arizona’s No. 1 dance/rock party band Superhero will close out this year’s event on May 27 with a high-energy stage show like no other. The group is well-known for delivering favorite hits from the 70s through today’s chart-toppers.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnics and flashlights. Food trucks will also be on-site during each performance night to offer concertgoers a variety of dining options.
